Rain continues to frame our early winter. After the days of grey skies, fresh air and crisp colors emerge.
Kona and I went on a rare afternoon hike, celebrating the first week of the new year and a break in the wet weather.
I couldn't convince the smile off my face, sore cheeks and all. The sky around us swirled with cotton candy clouds. The view toward Downtown shot straight to the ocean, reflecting light off the sea. Kona ran like a maniac, never missing a worthy smell.
I stopped to ask the sky and trail, "Who photoshopped your colors?"
Before leaving, I took a deep breath, smile still glued in place. I looked down at Kona. She sat right by my side, a rarity for my spazz-girl, taking her own deep breaths.
Welcome 2011!

So beautiful! Just what I needed to see on another cold Chicago winter day. Happy New Year!
Ahhhhh looks like summer!
Thanks for your kind comment, Amber, it sounds like your leg is well and you and Kona are up for some fun.
Cheers,
Stella and Mom
I hope this year is filled with LOTS of outings just like this one for you and Kona. Doesn't look like winter up on those hills at all - wish I could join you!
P.S. - I'm glad you enjoyed the breed matching post. It was just for fun, since I obviously don't take stock in what those stupid tests say, but a lot of people commented with interesting breed suggestions. You hit on one that's on my list - the Doberman!
What a beautiful day! It's amazing to see GREEN in mid-winter... but I remember that's how it is in CA. Enjoy the emerald grass and the blue skies. I'm glad to see you and Kona on the trails again.
Winter seems far away now! It's beautiful out there and Kona looked so happy. I'm glad both of you had a good hiking!
That sounds so fantastic and the pictures are BEAUTIFUL! HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU, glad it has started out so well!
Happy New Year to AC & Kona. Hope this year brings lots of hikes, cool stuff to smell, and adventures galore!
Gorgeous! Now that's the best way to start the year!
What a Most Happy postie! Now I can't get the smile off MY face either!

Happy New Year to you both! What a wonderful day you had. I think maybe God does the photoshopping...you never know.
