Creek Hike with Miss Frenzy

Today was a rest day, so Kona and I set out on a relaxed creek hike. I was surprised to see we were only the second car in the parking lot. I parked closest to the trailhead. I was happy to see Kona do some exploring right out of the car. She zoomed in and out of new yellow blooms.
A few seconds later, a rabbit showed up on scene. Thus began Kona's frenzied pulling pattern.
Kona's yanking was less like a scared dog's pull and more from a dog who hadn't been out of the house for a few weeks. I was glad she wasn't panic-pulling. The canyon was so peaceful and spring-like that I wasn't bothered by my maniac furbuddy.
We soon came to our first creek crossing. I paused and smiled at our morning playground.

Kona wasn't too happy about the pausing. She had things waiting to be sniffed.
New flowers sprouted from the weekend's rain and I soon forgot the signs at the trailhead that warned against kneeling down on this well-trodden mountain lion path.
Kona again reminded me it was time to get moving.

Soon, we reach Kona's favorite point where the canyon narrows and the water picks up speed.

She got bold with her exploring. The second after I took this picture, Kona made a half plunge, half fall, into the chilly water.

She scrambled to dry land to shake out her nerves and dry off her fur.

I think she was happy.

We zig-zagged along the creek bed on our way back. I stopped for awhile by my favorite sycamore tree.
Kona was still prying for more sniff time. Her energy had not teased at waning.

So we made it back to the car. Kona showed the signs of an endurance junkie who scoffs at an hour and a half creek stroll. I turned to smile at the mountains and shake my head at my crazy canine.

That's great that she made such an easy transition from the car. Sounds like a great day...for Kona & you!

Flowers! Spring-time! I can't wait until they get here. Until then, I'll get them from your blog!

K and I are endurance junkies like Kona, and we're both scoffing at our hikes. I can't wait to be out there again, hammering the pedals with my K next to me. Patience.

I'm glad that Kona was happy and not fearful today. What a day!
